Re: Newbie aka a Returnee 73 911 Historic Rally Car & 987 Sp

Welcome! I like JW remember Paul Clare and his Viper Green 911. I seem to recall that it got in some practice for rallying when it was launched over the "Mole Hill" at Curborough Sprint Course during his ownership, unfortunately I don't think I have the pictures! I also live in Lincolnshir...

This is a very well known and successful hillclimb car that may well fit the bill. Looks like the auction is 12th December.

Re: 3.2 911 engine: mods to give 7600 min red line?

If you are running stock 3.2 cams and want to stretch the rev limit with plenty of lowdown torque then perhaps put in a set of 964 camshafts and you will have no issues with valve clearance. We have run at 7500 revs on 3 litre engine for 6 seasons and 2 drivers without any issues, but the 3.2 rods a...

Re: 3.2 911 engine: mods to give 7600 min red line?

It all depends on how much power you want and how much money you want to spend Graham. Get the 3.2 barrels bored out to 98mm by Capricorn and fit JE high compression pistons giving you 3.4 litres and around an extra 20 bhp. Cylinder heads on 3.2 should be fine for airflow, but could do with some sma...

Re: carbs

I suspect that I am the co competitor mentioned above! I currently run a 3 litre SC engined 911 that runs with 46 PMO carbs. It was a great debate between me and the engine builder as to what size of carbs to run with me favouring 40's and builder 46's, but after consultation with Richard at PMO who...

Re: Wevo Gateshift - experience?

Hi Chris, I cannot comment on the gateshift as I do not have one fitted. I have however had a Wevo shifter and their PSJ fitted for over 5 years without missed shifts, that during the time when the car has done 50 or more sprint and Hillclimb events with 2 drivers. It is a very good system with posi...
