The red 911 is almost certainly Ken Shields, as Motor and Spares of Donegall Pass in Belfast were his longtime sponsors.

There is a new book out about Irish rallying by Richard Young, I'll scan in some of the Porsche pics from it :)

Ian Some more info here http://www.911handbook.com/articles/e_davem911.html and here http://www.qv500.com/porsche91122p2.php Would seem to indicate that both bumpers and the bonnet were fibreglass. Plus various other weight saving mods. Certainly there are various threads on Early S forum that give ...

911 ST Rally info sought

Having decided to stick with the 2.2S engine ( the 3.2 disappeared thru eBay) I'm going for the early ST Rally look for my car Does anyone have any pics of the early cars before Porsche decided to put the various wheel arch extensions on them This is the only one I've seen so far http://i91.photobuc...

Just thought I'd post some feedback on the final resolution :) The charging circuit was sorted, by ensuring there was a 12v feed thru the two pole ignition light from the ignition switch (my circuit had been wrongly wired by the previous tenant, honest Gov !!) I then had a problem with the tacho, wh...

Bert The best thing to do is to look at all the various manufacturer's sites and see what they say. All diff that use plates ( i.e. everything but the Quaife) will eventually wear out, to where you need to replace all or some of the plates. Obviously, it's also a "how long is a piece of string&...

OK at the request of Andy here are some pics and info on my previous classics. I say previous, as my garaging arrangements only permit me to have one plaything at a time :) My first decent competition car was a 1960 Turner. This was in Modsports guise and ran on 8 inch wide slicks in hillclimbs. It ...

Fabulous information Fetuhoe :D The ZF LSD on the Alfa was 4 plate, all plates were flat, and once used were all smooth. There was no pre-load, and the car had a real habit of kicking it's tail out when power was applied when exiting a corner. This "kick" actually slowed you down as the ov...

No experience of LSDs in 911s as yet, but I have used a Gripper in a 190hp Alfa Giulia and my friend has just fitted one to a TVR V6. Very good performance, and provided gradual, controlable breakaway and better traction out of the corner than the ZF "flat plate" LSD that is normally fiitt...

Charging circuit puzzle

Due to my ignition light problem (posted in my other thread on this section) I have spent time studying the charging circuit of the 1971 electrical diagram. My problem is I cannot see where the ignition switch has any input to this circuit. To review the circuit as drawn The open 12v feed from the b...
