Re: Old Sckool 5 cc model Diesel engine build

To get the right compression on these designs needs a near interference fit right close to TDC. This means a clearance of about 1 or less thou, and this can be achieved only by honing or lapping the piston to size or the bore to the piston. First you need a very 'dead-on' clearance and this is hard ...

Re: Old Sckool 5 cc model Diesel engine build

This will make a nice paperweight! It will NOT start no matter what I do or try. Do not feel inclined to keep on trying as I feel there simply is not enough compression to get to the ideal mixture. In the meantime I've bought another design to make on the Drummond. It is a 1933 design spark ignition...

Re: Anyone else had this issue?

Good thought, will try that when out in the car again. The handbrake shoes i know are 1973 originals, sail through the MoT. Dansk silencer now on. Bit of a fiddle getting in in as it is slightly fatter than the 2 into 3 unit. All on and just back from a short run through the village. Sounds differen...

Re: Good usable 90mm pistons & cylinders wanted

Agree, that ^^^ is a much easier engine and risk-free Rob.
I thought a '2.4' conversion to a 2.2 engine was a bit meccarno? Could be wrong, been a very long time since I thought about 2.4's as opposed to 3.2's.

I think the Dempsey book goes through a lot of the common tune-up configurations?

Re: Anyone else had this issue?

Groans down a drain pipe: miss spent youth! Engine/box mounts all Porsche rubber original design, all about 10 years old when I removed the set of polybushes. Ignore it? Probalby the right way to go. The car drives great, just a bit harsh, could be play in the box after all these years. Going to swo...

Re: Porsche v Singer... Bring on the popcorn.

I'm with Sam. No real big deal is it? The Singer product is great, looks etc and spec and performance all good otherwise there would not be a buyer in sight at the price. I would say a carbon tub is a move too far, RUF included, from the sheet steel of the Real Deal but that is hidden away. Good pub...

Just as these things snowball...
Wonder if part of the heater control valve may have broken and dropped down inside the heat exchanger?
Rather not take the heat exchanger off and so risking an exhaust stud shearing off.

Re: Anyone else had this issue?

Deffo not a grave piece rattling around, this is a deep rooted sound grumbling, bit like low level groaning down a drain pipe! Takes the edge off the driving experience! I have a near new Dansk SS 2 in 1 out silencer in the shed, so will prob swop it over and see. This car is nearly too loud for a r...

Anyone else had this issue?

I have a 73T with a stock 3.2 engine and Sports 915 box. Everything works, engine strong, box good as it was rebuilt a few years ago, so the power train is good. On the road, and for several years there is a very general 'gruffness' as you go down the road at reasonable speeds. Of course, I cannot d...

Simply Buyer Beware?
Due diligence and research before purchase.
Hard on the Auction Houses too?

Wherever there are large monies to be made you will have this.

Re: What did you do in/on/for your Porsche today?

Went to a low-key Early Register run to the PCGB Club House and met up with fellow DDK'r John and about 12 other early 911's. Almost as many Targa's as coups! Very dull when taking pics but otherwise a sunny dryish day. Good to get the car out and a long run, but my early 911 is not the best 'traffi...

Re: my non-Porsche picture of the day

Good weekend hillclimbing in the Lola, but Clive broke his Empire race car on Saturday, and returned on Sunday with this, a Bib Block Ford 427 Cobre. Certainly brightened up the paddock, sound was unreal: https://i.postimg.cc/50qHtx4H/IMG-2186.jpg And to top it off in another part of the paddock The...
