That's broken, also, it's not meant to be covered in gunk.

Re: anyone have a scrap reverse/first gear slider
From memory you don't need a first/reverse for this. I will pull my homemade tool out and get pics, pretty sure I used a scrap 2-3 slider with a socket welded on one side to provide a breaker bar drive mount. Alternatively, if you remove the detent balls you can engage both the 2-3 and 4-5 sliders s...

Re: 64 65 66 Porsche 911 RHD platform and database
I’m sure my 69 had RHD on kardex but that’s a little later. Yes the earliest i've seen was late '68, have never seen an earlier kardex with RHD marking and I looked through a lot when searching for a RHD early car. How about http://www.early911sregistry.org/forums/showthread.php?99667-306611s This ...

Re: For sale, Gear Box Parts ?
You should be able to check without a teardown. Only take one flange off, if the elastic flange retaining bolt has a 'nipple' at the end past the threads then you have the simplified version which must be updated.
When the bolts fail you will be in for a big a$$ bill.

Re: For sale, Gear Box Parts ?
Those are the parts to convert a simplified (a.k.a. self-destructing) 901/911 differential to a non-exploding diff. They are worth a couple bucks to someone who hasn't done the update but the truth is most of them either died or were updated in the 50 years since this poor design was fixed. Others m...

Re: Will 2.2 cylinders and pistons fit a 1969 911T 2.0 L ?
Chris, I have a set of 2.0S rings at home which I can measure tonight but I'm fairly certain that they are 1.5, 1.5, 4.0. Pelican also lists this combination under part number 901-103-901-01 If I can read PET this package substitutes the 2.0mm middle ring 901.103.312.01 with the 1.5mm 901.103.317.00...

Re: Flipping gears
Just to clear something up, 2nd and 3rd can't be interchanged on a 901 transaxle. The interchangeable 2nd fixed gears have 6 splines rather than 8 as the 3rd/4th/5th do.
