Engine - to rebuild or not?

So, as some may have noticed, I am currently restoring a 1973.5 911T. I've just had some tests done on the engine to see what sort of shape it was in. The main reason for this (apart from having no history unfortunately) was because the oil pressure gauge was showing c.10 psi per 1000 revs which, fr...

Re: order of work to refurbish fuchs

Thanks to all for no doubt sound advice. A mix of stubbornness and stupidity means that I will give the DIY option a go on at least one wheel and see how it turns out. Sladey, aware that those wheels aren't anodised on the link but thought his process for painting seemed sensible! Will report back o...

Re: Reconnected deceleration valve - raised idle speed, prob

Many thanks Phil,

I hadn't realised the valve was adjustable but that all makes sense.

I'll have a go and let you know if that worked.

Cheers,

Al.

Reconnected deceleration valve - raised idle speed, problem

The deceleration valve on my 2.4T (CIS) was disconnected when I got the car so I have reconnected it. I reconnected it because, when I started the car before, it didn't idle well when cold and bounced up and down a lot. When I took my foot off the power while cold it would dive and cut out. Reconnec...

order of work to refurbish fuchs

Have a set of '71 Fuchs on my '73 T. I will be going for the anodised finish on petals and satin painted inner. I think this is a daft question but I presume the whole wheel is anodised and then you paint the inner surface? Planning on using this process for painting: http://www.themotoringjournal.c...

Wiring up three speed fresh air fan

Hey all, I'm currently working on the three speed fresh air blower fan. There had been a major meltdown under the dash (small fire in fact) so I've sourced a second hand switch unit for the dashboard and a new fan motor in its housing. The bakelite plug that goes into the fan housing broke when I wa...

Auxiliary heater system

My 1973 US spec T has the remains of an auxiliary heater system and I'm wondering how this worked and whether to keep it or not. At the moment my setup includes: - a small oval shaped metal tank in the front compartment LHS where I would usually expect to find the windscreen washer bottle. The winds...

Hi Chopperman,

Not familiar with this glare shield, can you send a photo?

When you say door trim do you mean the pockets?

Cheers,

Al.
