Re: Wanted: 6x15

Sorry for gatecrashing this thread but I have just discovered that one of mine is cracked so I'm also on the hunt. My car is '73 but my wheels are matched dated '71. I have no spare at the mo so I will probably get my cracked one welded and painted in as close a match to anodised as possible, then i...

Re: colour for lettering on engine lid 1973 T

Thanks Guys.

Looks like my 911T badge is correct but my gold porsche letters need to be stripped and re-anodised in black.

colour for lettering on engine lid 1973 T

Hey all, Bit ahead of myself here since the car hasn't even been painted yet but I need some help with colour for lettering on engine lid. The 911T emblem is currently painted black. The Porsche lettering is currently gold. I think all of these should be silver/gray as in this car? http://www.carpic...

Re: WTB Original Chrome Horn Grilles for '72T

Thanks Mike/mycar - all of the chromers I have had responses from (3) are basically saying the process is unlikely to produce acceptable results due to the pitting, with the exception of Prestige who have asked me to send them to them. Given your experience, I don't see how my outcome would be much ...

Re: WTB Original Chrome Horn Grilles for '72T

Geez, Andrew - not sure where this leaves us? Not looking too economical to repair and rechrome these grills. Sounds like it might be best to follow Mike/210bhp's advice above and go for new ones but I've no idea how much they are. I'll be learning new metalwork skills at a restoration course starti...

Re: Hole in the bulkhead...should it be there?

I have one of these holes as well but it is a lot smaller, lower down and has a nice plastic surround - actually looks OEM. My COA does say the car was ordered with aircon so it may be factory.

Re: WTB Original Chrome Horn Grilles for '72T

Hi all, As Andrew is already aware, my horn grills are pitted and generally dull so need to be rechromed. I have been researching possible suppliers and had a good chat with Prestige Plating in Mexborough. They want me to send the grills to them so they can tell me whether or not they can deal with ...

Re: Engine drop - a few queries

Don't worry! Words like 'drop' and 'hit' should be read as 'remove and lower gently'!! I have the use of a full car lift in the local technical college (where I'm starting a 6-month course in restoration in Jan). I intend to lower the engine onto blocks and then make use of some muscle to manhandle ...

Engine drop - a few queries

Morning all, OK, time for the real dismantling to start! I'm starting with the engine since it has to be done anyway and will make the car lighter to push around! So, a few queries: 1. any general hints or tips above and beyond the general instructions (will be following the Pelican tech article clo...

Re: WTB Original Chrome Horn Grilles for '72T

Many thanks Andrew, Mike and Andy.

My goodness, plastic horn grills, would never have thought that!

Andrew, PMs sent and will get on with paint removal.

Re: WTB Original Chrome Horn Grilles for '72T

Hi, If you can wait until the weekend I may have some for you. I am starting resto of my '73 T and my horn grills are chrome ones painted black. I was going to strip them anyway to see what kind of condition they are in prior to deciding what to do but if I can sell these to you and pick up a black ...

101 Projects - for sale

Lost my copy, bought another second hand from Wordery, found my original copy before it even arrived.

Paid £16 so that's the price. Plus postage of course.
