Exterior door release
Hello, My car is overdue its MOT, and apparently a working door release is a key requirement to getting the ticket. Problem seems to be that when I pull the trigger on the handle, I can see things moving around inside the door, but it's not engaging with the release mechanism. I can't see any obviou...

Re: Foot Rest (?) Part Number
Found them. Had to look in the 74-79 catalog though. It's listed as:
901 501 958 22 Desk pad
Nothing online, so I'll try Porsche on Monday.

Re: Foot Rest (?) Part Number
I ordered the rubber and recovered the foot-rest. Pretty easy to do once I'd straightened out the steel plate and got all the old glue off it. I ended up with quite a lot of rubber, so if anyone needs some, let me know. PS - does anyone know the part number for the little grommet / washer things in ...

Re: Foot Rest (?) Part Number
Cheers - I've ordered some rubber. Just noticed the plate is bent, so I'll need to hammer it flat also. Beginning to wish I'd gone with the wide-boy option -

Re: Foot Rest (?) Part Number
Seems it's ribbed rubber (ooh er missus). Anyone know the spec of the rubber sheet used and/or where to get such a thing ?

Foot Rest (?) Part Number
Hi All, What's the period correct paint finish for the centre foot rest (901.501.950.22) in the early cars ? Later ones are covered in nasty textured chunky vinyl. I'm about to re-fit the one I've got and it's looking a bit tatty so I thought I might as well backdate it. Picture below is from a 2.2S...

Re: Finish of fuel tanks on early cars
Thanks - sounds like the grey Schutz finish was used in the 70s and 80s cars so I'll go with that.

Finish of fuel tanks on early cars
Hello It looks like I'm going to have to replace the tank in my car (backdated 3.2 Carrera). Although it'll have to be a 3.2 tank, I might as well make it look like an early one. Are they painted or do they just go straight in the car in the black primer finish ? Presumably they have stone-chip unde...

Re: Offset for 3.2 Carrera with 7x15 wheel
Hi Keith - I tried that. Unfortunately the cookie cutters don't have the necessary recesses to allow a hub-centric spacer to be used - I went right up to a 28mm spacer and the nuts protruded about 5mm outside the space and so the wheel wouldn't sit properly. A 32mm was the next size up but I think t...

Re: Offset for 3.2 Carrera with 7x15 wheel
Ah - 8" might be a bit of a stretch for a 205 tyre, and I don't think you can get wider snow tyres in 15". Do you know if there are any after-market 7" wheels (e.g. minilite copies) that fit a 3.2 rear wheelarch ?
