You could try this... Apparently you can channel wireless over a distance if you put a metal tube over the antenna - Obviously it will only go in one direction, but it goes much further. I haven't tested this and don't know if it works, but it might be worth a shot, if you don't want to buy and exte...

I think the 'braid' ones are meant to be pretty good. But they are more spendy than the other ones.
