After 1.5 years, the car is finished and now reluctantly for sale. A matching numbers right hand drive 2.4E targa (vin: 9113210729, engine: 6231435) with considerable history and provenance having been originally owned by the baby sham girl. The car was laid up between 1988 and 2006 when it underwen...

So it looks like its a top end re-build and perhaps a mfi pump re-conditioning / re-calibrating and or a replacement injector or two. Anyone have thoughts on the price of injectors, new pistons and rings and or barrels? I want to make sure that it goes back with as much power as possible for the mos...

The engine had been running fine for the last year up until a couple of weeks after taking it up to Bob Watson, I suspect that the increased horsepower he found for me must have triggered some hibernating issues in the engine. Oh, well, I guess its all part and parcel of owning such a great car - Fr...

Its a matching num bers engine. The MFI was working well. The thing i
I'm struggling with is the likely costs i should expect with each option. If i go for a 3.0sc I could always keep the original engine to change back in time although i'm most focussed on getting the beast back on the road soon.

Rebuild or replacement

So it seems the time might have come to either rebuild the engine or replace it. I have a 2.4E 1973 and after the 4th cylinder misfiring and subsequent investigation I have oil leaking from the 4th cylinder head and the left bank is down on compression and leaking oil. So the options I think are to ...

Oil tank for '73 2.4E

Seemingly endless oil leaks from the current tank means I am now in the market for a replacement non-leaky oil tank for my 1972 2.4 E targa. I understand that later model cars have similar tanks but with the downside of a plastic filler cap - I don't suppose anyone has a non-leaking tank spare? Chee...

Missing on # 4

So just it was almost finished, the engine has started to play up. #4 cylinder is mis-firing. It has a great spark and seems to be getting fuel but for some reason it mis-fires. Anyone had a similar problem out there? There was a high pitched squeeking noise from the engine bay this morning (almost ...

Thanks for the offer. I know that to take the oil tank out I'll need to buy a larger spanner - Alan, do you know the size of the spanner that un-bolts the feeder pipe? After taking the washer off, I found that there was just enough thread to tighten teh plug. So my thinking is as follows, as a tempo...

So after all the hard work the plug that goes into the oil tank is stripped. The car is now sans oil waiting for a solution. The thread on the plug is fine and it does up well until it starts to tighten then it skips the thread. It is the thread in the oil tank that is stripped. Any thoughts on how ...

Superb thanks. That's just the job. Hopefully it'll go according to plan. I believe the prior owner of the oil reservoir might have stripped the thread on the drain plug...

Thanks for the responses. It's a '73 car with no front oil cooler (something I'd like to add so if anyone knows of a decent example for grabs please pm me.). Fingers crossed it goes to plan. btw, any pictures of the crack case plug I should undo? With all the fun I don't want to start undoing miscel...

Oil Change

Saturday morning's mission is to do my first oil change on me 2.4E. Does anyone know the correct amount of oil to re-fill it with? I am using 10w40.
Cheers, Ed

Thanks for the responses. I've now had time to take the roof apart to see what the problem is. It appears as though the housing for the handle has split and that the handle pin only has one side (this is the case for each handle. I think probably a good welder can fix the problem easily enough. Pict...
