MSD
Hi Bob/Dirk MSD state 8910 for points, and 8920 for electronic. I have an SC engine with electronic ign fitted in a 72T . After fitting a 6AL the tacko would climb to 2000rpm and then drop back and become erratic. I then fitted the 8920 adaptor, but sadly the tacho is now totally dead. Any ideas. Wy...

Rev counter
Hi
The car was originally a 72 2.4T with a 3 pin CDI unit.
The MSD rev counter adaptor can be wired in two ways, depending on how the original tacho got its signal. Am I right in understanding that the signal came from the negative side of the coil.
Thanks
Wynne

Hi Dirk
If you need a tacho adaptor I have a new MSD 8910 which is for points ignition. I bought it in error instead of 8920 for electronic.
Cheers Wynne

wheel spacers
Thanks all for your comments. The problem with the adaptors I tried, was the lenght of the studs which went through the wheel, They were 5mm shorter than the Porsche studs. The cookie cutter wheel is quite thich, resulting in the studs not protruding enough. I am using steel wheel nut as opposed to ...

Wheel spacer
Hi Andy What length are the studs on your spacers, and do you know if a cookie cutter type wheel will sit on them. The problem I had with a similar set was that the retaining nuts sat proud of the face, preventing the wheel from sitting flush with spacer. The studs were 6mm shorter than the Porsche ...

I have a mirror off a 72 car.Its is good condition £20. The glass fitting looks similar but is different on the later SC cars , which might be the same as the 944.

Oil temp and pressure
Having fitted an SC engine in a 1972T the needles on both gauges go to the top of the scale. Is this a case of both sensors on the SC being faulty, or being non compatible with the gauge. What is the method to determine if the sensors are faulty. I have tried earthing the sensors, but no difference....

Hi
If you decide to invest in an MSD unit and need a tachometer adaptor which is recommended, I have a new unit no. 8910 available. This is for a points distributor. I need a 8920 for an electronic version.
Let me know.
Cheers Wynne
