356 Sloppy gearshift ?

Do you have a sloppy gearshift or do you experience difficulty getting into gear?, over the last couple of years I had both when driving, I thought it was just wear and tear as the change was so gradual. After one particular trip when I found getting into 2nd gear particularly difficult I decided to...

Check your pipes

Enclosed pic is of fuel pipe from my mates 911, it’s around 5years old and as you can see the pipe is showing serious cracks, we put it down to ethanol content in petrol. Check your fuel pipes and replace them with ethanol tolerant rubber pipe.

Get plugged in

When I finished the resto of my 6volt T6 B approx 3 summer’s ago I changed for new the leads and plugs on the engine and refurbed the carbs, the distributor and fuel pump, all seemed well but over time the starting, running and tick over all had wobbles. Particularly starting but I had over that tim...

You could try H & H ignition solutions in west Mids, 01384 261500, they have been around a number of years and rebuilding and mapping dizzi’s are meat and veg to them.

Re: Winterburn cdi

Hi, after reading your post about the CD unit improving the staring of a 6volt 356, I thought it’s just what I need to get better starting from my car as it can be a bit of a challenge from cold and standing for any length of time. I sent Fred an email expressing interest in buying a unit and costs ...

Re: Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for your comments, I stated it’s when I feather the clutch on starting to move, in other words part clutch, as soon as I release the pedal (ie full clutch) the screeching goes. I think the registry thread is the best lead as to the cause. Rather than buy another replacement I will strip, clea...

Re: Any ideas anyone?

The noise is only when the car moves from a static position. After searching ‘The 356 Registry’s’ site I may have found the answer!, a number of posts describe the situation and their conclusion is it’s the new thrust bearing that I installed. Apparently all replacement thrust bearings are not made ...

My B T6 has developed a noise from the gearbox area that has after many hours of investigation has beaten me, as I start off from stationary whilst feathering the clutch,it’s a rotating noise that starts slowly then gets faster , it’s coming from the gearbox/ clutch area and it happens in both first...

Re: Sub par brakes

I fitted a CSP front disc brake kit to my T6 last year together with a duel circuit master cylinder ( for a disc and drum setup)and separate brake fluid tank (fitted in front trunk area), fitting was straight forward, however getting a solid pedal proved to be elusive. I finally solved the problem b...
