Re: refurbing gauges

Ooh, how do you split them, or more to the point, recrimp the rings afterwards? I've got to rescue my ones at some point. I went around the crimped part of the bezel with a sharpened mini flat-blade screwdriver. Takes a few minutes of work. Once the gauges are all cleaned up, you can push the edge ...

It's mental. Pointless. Replace the floor and keep it real (literally).

Re: Back in beige

No big reveal. I applied for a visa to the US last year. You know, 2016 - back when Barack Obama was president. The visa was approved in summer, a week after we discovered my girlfriend was pregnant. Wasn't banking on either, but somehow got both at the same time. He's due next week. All being well,...

Re: Back in beige

Thanks Gavin. Yes - although the plans for the car changed a gazillion times during the build, the concept remained the same - basic and pure.

It drives wonderfully and slips and slides with confidence on the greasy winter roads. Amazing fun.

Re: Back in beige

wow .. great work from Barry and what a wonderful loookng car jamie too 8) anyone raised the issue with Porsche ? Barry told me what was involved. Basically, you raise the issue with the OPC, who then raise the issue with someone else, and eventually the info lands in Stuttgart - I imagine somewhat...

Re: Back in beige

Ughhhhh... it's late. How to write this up diplomatically? I finished adding to this build thread last summer - the car was on the road, running well. I was piling the miles on and having a wonderful time. But keen readers will recall the problems I had with the headlamps not fitting - in short, the...

Re: 70 S, RHD, Signal Orange, UK->Australia->UK

Saw your car at Carter Industries today. The repairs are beautiful - as per usual, you can't see any of the sections that Barry has let-in. You're going to like the result!

Re: Back in a Porsche, buying my 993

I agree, that anti-chip film always looks odd when the car is sparkling clean, but once there's a smidgen of road dirt on it you won't notice it. If it were me, I'd leave it on for the time being and see how I felt about it in a few weeks.

Agreed on the seat belts though - get them gone!

Re: schumacher cargo logistics.......

I shipped with Schumacher about five years ago and wasn't impressed. Totally impersonal, and got hit with a bunch of miscellaneous additional charges that weren't explained to me beforehand. A friend of mine had a total horror story that I can't even begin to repeat on here, but which ultimately end...

Re: Back In A Porsche!

If I'd wanted an Aventura green tiptronic with a crap interior and 124,000 miles on the clock it would be easy This made me laugh. A few years ago, my girlfriend's (now my wife) Dad asked me about buying a 993. I gave him the usual list - C2, manual, not green, and no grey leather. Buy a good one f...
