Re: Maybe its time

Thanks all! :-) I have found it impossible to arrive at a value, the car is miles from perfect, somewhere between original, an outlaw and a race car..but its pretty, gans well and is maybe the latest chassis no. on a surviving 356 outside the states. They went to 222580. I think Seinfeld owns the la...

Maybe its time

Just starting to think about moving my 356 on. It just isn't getting used enough and I have a big mortgage. Posting in this section first because I am really sad, steadying myself, and also I am not sure if my ex is keeping an eye on the classifieds. Not sure what to ask. Might put it on collecting ...

356C indicators and brakelights fail

Hello, something strange happened. The 356 has a fault. I noticed people had stopped letting me in to gaps, and after being very rude about them, I realised to my shame that I seem to have no indicators. Looking into it they are on a common circuit with the brake lights and right enough, brake light...

OH MY GOD I’m tempted. I can’t understand the Spanish but…looks better than mine was, and its only £7k. Looks like its Oak Green too or similar. Oof. C’mon somebody. Just look at that pasha :drunken: https://www.autoscout24.com/offers/porsche-928-ano-78-gasoline-green-5c967b54-3060-4eeb-a702-23cf32a...

Re: French 1978 928 5 speed: rolling resto

Mike Bainbridge told me ‘110 percent were autos’, but there were more manual early cars than people think. Across model years I think it is probs around 3/4 that were automatic.

Re: French 1978 928 5 speed: rolling resto

..for reference, the original gearshift is quite a tall thing, a delight for passing children. https://live.staticflickr.com/878/28425671238_86ae598639.jpg Anyway, the next satisfying fix came courtesy of eBay once again. The car had key and lock issues, which included: - Ignition key dubious.. seem...

Re: French 1978 928 5 speed: rolling resto

Talking of gearshifts, the other emergency fix was replacing the ghastly wooden knob with stock. Could I find a stock manual 928 gearknob? No I couldn't. For ages. Then one came up, and I overpaid for it, because I am an impatient idiot. When replacing it I noted with interest that the shift lever h...

Re: French 1978 928 5 speed: rolling resto

Thank you Thomas, for that chilling glimpse into your youtube playlist. Ok, so, what's next? Now it was starting and registered, I think I did the comedy gearshift next. You may recall that it had ludicrous amounts of play. Selecting reverse was like casting a salmon fly on the Spey, but without the...

Re: French 1978 928 5 speed: rolling resto

If you do, please bring some Innis and Gunn over? I'll swap you for some Texel Speciaalbier! You're on Al! Although sadly CLM is looking on a shuggly peg for me leave-wise. Texel looks like an interesting brewery, a Dutch island that is all about beer and sheep. Ideally, I guess, in that order. Don...

Re: Porsche for sale of the day..........

Blue cheapie with really nice tartan seats. RHD so probably a rust-bondo-respray catastrophe, but worth a look if you're local maybe.

Re: French 1978 928 5 speed: rolling resto

Thanks so much chaps for the nice words. In hard times for so many I am living a charmed life of course, but I am lucky to have such enduring buddies here too. Re CLM, would be ace. I probably won't be able to sort work in time, but will have a look.
