I used to have exactly the same problem, a real pain. Replacing the earth strap between the battery and bulkhead and underneath between the chassis forks and bulkhead helped but did not cure. I changed the starter motor bush in the gearbox again helped but did not cure. I tried a higher Amp battery ...

12v tacho for 356
Hi, does anybody have a 12v tach for my 356? Recently but a type 1 engine in which does not use the orginal mechanical drive tach of the 356.

Hi Cubist, When the car was hot it did not even turn over, changed earth leads, batteries, main power lead, starter, starter bush, cleaned fuse box connections etc etc. Nothing helped. leave it to cool for 30 minutes and hey presto starts first time. Finally resorted and changed to 12v. Well at leas...

Oil temp during running 356
The oil warning guage on my 356 is broken. I fitted an aftermarket guage to keep an eye on the engine. What range should I start to get worried at? Above 150 degrees C?
