Can definitely pass with one seat and one belt - I was talking about this with 'my' MOT man only a couple of weeks ago. He was describing how it is possible to get an MOT pass if your passenger seat belt is frayed or damaged to the level of a fail - if you take just the belt out, you will fail on no...

Excellent!

Now send those MOT-Pass vibes over here for when mine goes for it's test in a couple of weeks.

Drive it 'round to my house one of these light evenings (I'm in Christleton), and we can compare what you have to one of several 009s in my shed and at least confirm what you have. I have spare 009 parts including caps, points, electronic ignition inserts and leads, so you can have a quick swap in/o...

I grabbed these extracts from the DDK 914 knowledge pool: Rear wheel bearings are available from BSL (Bearing Supplies a national industrial chain) you'll need the SKF or whatever part number for them to cross refer 914 rear wheel bearings same as early 911. Euro or GS&F can supply them. I am su...

I think it has the potential to be very 8) I'd like to see it with the wider dished-look on the front as well though. I've always wanted to try my 914 with dished wheels that give a solid-looking centre - centrelines, or perhaps Ronal Turbos. And if my current low-profile tyres ever wear out (unlike...

Long long long before the 914 landed in my life, I was a loyal and slightly obsessive Saab owner, aided by the father of a close friend owning and operating a Saab specialist garage, and therefore being the obvious first person to visit as my 17th birthday and 1st car approached. So mixed in with ot...

That looks really nice now imo. Funnily enough was loooking thro some old car mags the other day and saw this in the sale section ,guess it was from the previous owner to you had it up for sale . It seems to be a bit of an attention whore - evidence its (in)famous appearance as Miss June in the Cra...

:) Thank you for the kind words, Chaps - all encouragement gratefully received! I hoped you'd spot the exhaust Wayne - in fact, if you look at another picture, you can see the exhaust and the end-casting that both came my way as part of your upgrade path... http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z19/swa...

Face lift

I've waited since pretty-much the day I bought the car to do this - The colour coded bumpers were often admired, but gave the car far too much of the MX-5 for me, and I've long wanted to have black and silver plates to help the car show it's age with pride. Nothing wrong with MX-5s, BTW, but my car ...

I think you might have pointed me in just the right direction there, Andrew, thank you. Not only do they look like my pads, the calipers look like my calipers, Chase list an appropriate part, and they show the size as 76.7mm x 65.5mm, which is remarkably close to my ruler-measurement of 77mm x 66mm ...

Hi Andrew - thanks for that.

I'll tell you what - those BMW 320i brake pads look remarkably like the one I took out of my car...

I wonder if I might have a converted car and not known it?

Hmm.

Do you have a passenger for your trip yet?

I must come over and admire your car this year.

Front brake pad confusion

Hello All, I find myself very confused by the front brakes on my 914 :( It seems that pads for pre-72 cars will fit all 914s - fair enough, but the pad I've taken out of my caliper to check the sizing on doesn't look like the photos of pads online - the photos tend to show a small, square looking pa...

Thank you everyone - crisis over. The rear-most reservior pipe had indeed levered it's way out, due I'm sure to the slight mis-alignment of the pipe, which meant it entered the cylinder at an angle - had it always been like this, waiting to pop out? Perhaps. Anyway, after deciding it was never going...
