Re: Tool kit prices

210bhp wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 4:34 pmIt’s worth noting that non of the toolkits left the factory inside the car but were shipped to the dealer separately and it was up to the supplying dealer to include a kit during his ‘pdi’.
I didn't know that. Thanks.

What about the spare wheel? Was that also dealer-installed?

Re: Tool kit prices

'70. But I'm not in a rush to look for one. Yes, I would prefer an original complete kit rather than buying separate items. Thanks anyway.

Re: Tool kit prices

But if some are willing to then that is the price. Applies to many things, not just car parts I think. Some just have to have a certain item, and will pay if they can. I suppose you're right. Not just in the USA, Mine still available https://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=67900&a...

Tool kit prices

Have you noticed that In the USA, early tool kits are sometimes being advertised for very high prices like $1500 - $2000

I don't get it.

Would you pay that much?

Koni: OPC versus premier dealers

As there's a big price difference between buying Koni's from OPC's and shops, are there any differences in quality or valving? Today's prices: Front Koni cartridge From an OPC, part # PCG.341.903.00 costs £275 plus VAT = £330 each From a shop like Demon Tweeks part # 86-1947 which is equivalent to t...

I can see a drain slot at the bottom of the genuine L-shaped gusset. Maybe yours were Dansk?

Re: New body panels currently from Porsche

The later L-shaped gusset definitely fit the earlier cars, Thanks for letting me know. There is less or perhaps no need for this extra rigidity on coupes. Early 911 shells, even coupes, had very weak torsional rigidity. Any strengthening would be advantageous. One point worth noting is that the gen...

Re: New body panels currently from Porsche

. It used to be fairly std for restorers (eg Autofarm) to 'upgrade' to the later kidney bowls if they needed replacement ... I think Jon Miller (DustyM) uses the later parts on all of his restorations. . Thanks. Do you know if the slightly earlier inner sill (part # ending .03) will fit together wi...

Re: New body panels currently from Porsche

Good thinking about the matching inner sill. I have a NOS genuine inner sill with part number ending .03 but I think I have to sell that and get later ones (ending .04) I think the early jacking point and reinforcement plate on the car just need to be removed. For outer sills, I'll be using smooth o...

Re: New body panels currently from Porsche

Another question :P Will the later gussets (kidney bowls) as pictured below, fit to pre-73 911? It seems to me that this gusset being L-shaped will add more rigidity between the B-pillar and the rocker. Another advantage is that it has a jacking point integrated with it, so that's probably a good th...

I thought DVLA didn't approve substantially altered vehicles? Remember KS started such a thread a few months ago?

Re: Amazing barn find and a journey of discovery

. Recently read the article in the mag but I don't understand this: it was treated to a range of firsts, including the debut of a magnesium crankcase That's not true. The second-half of 1968 production year SWB 911 cars had a magnesium crankcase. Another thing - what makes the current owner thinks t...
