Re: 914 engine core, strip and rebuild

That small gap is not a big problem when you are driving along, only if you get stuck in traffic on a hot day.
You are better off adding some exhaust wrap or ceramic coating to keep the exhaust temps down.

Re: Burnt Pig - 356 Pre a Build Thread

I have seen both positions used and thought the one nearer the spark plug better as its nearer the heat source.

Re: Running issues

How old are the carbs? Parts wear and you may get air leaks around the butterfly shafts .

Re: Running issues

Over 4000 rev you are running on main jets so I would defo check for crud in the jets. The float height is also very important so check that and also fuel inlet needles to make sure they are not sticking.

The Spiyda Gauge Wizard is all you need to match any gauge to any sender. I have fitted several of these and they are a great bit of kit.

Re: 914 carb problems !

As long as you have no blocked jets and a quality linkage set up it will just take time and patience.

Re: Super-secret 356 Coupe Project - Engine Questions!

In my experience customer 2270cc type 4 with Weber fuel injection 167bhp, junked it because it kept playing up and fitted Dellorto 45 dlra carbs 165bhp!! In a light car you don't need to go mad on induction and capacity unless you want to do spectacular burn outs!

Re: Super-secret 356 Coupe Project - Engine Questions!

I would suggest the CSP upright conversion or the DTM if you can afford it!

Re: 356 Coupe Replica - Where to Buy?

I have a Martin & Walker shell and have designed a full space frame chassis for it with wishbone suspension front and rear.
