Hi Barry, I'm interested, was taught to gas and stick weld years ago, now improving with MIG, but need any help/advice I can. Metal bashing has never been a strong point, but can use machine tools competently. Again, any help/advice will help me! Just have to sort out membership, good push, thanks! ...

I called in to see motor meister when on holiday (understanding wife etc). To be honest, they had a lot of engines in bits, but did not seem to have much by way of a system to keep them as sets etc, including crankcases!! In my view, you only need to buy the parts and take advantage of the exchange ...

I was standing behind this when they were firing it up on the Friday. My ears have nearly stopped bleeding now.

It was a glorious noise and should be used instead of stupid music on corporate telephone systems!

Mike,

I have had a look at the crank, unfortunately it is a 2.0/2.2 crank I think. The mains and big ends are the same size, which makes it an early one I believe.

Sorry not to be able to help.

Any good for anyone else outthere?

Restoration job!

Jon, It's looking good, I am in the middle of just the same thing with my '70T/E. The hours you spend now make so much difference later, but it's hard to think of that when you are up to the eyeballs in scraped off sealer and underseal! I am inspired to try and put some pictures of mine up! Keep up ...

Hi Mike,

I have a crank, I think it is a 2.7 but will check. I thnk it is sound but will need a grind(who goes this far on an engine build and doesn't do this bit!)

I will come back to you over the next few days when I have had a chance to have a look at it.

Regards

Aero mirrors

Hi,

I have a pair that are surplus to requirements. Painted metaillic blue at present, lenses intact etc. Prefer to swop for parts for my 70 T/E, WHY, I need loads of little bits!

Stud problem

Helicoils are fine for most uses, much better however are 'Timeserts', which use the same threadform as a helicoil. The insert is solid, so no breaking off the tang and not being able to find where it went. the only difference in the process is that there is a shoulder to drill into the top of the h...

Dunlop Formula R Tyres

I have been using these on a Renault 5 in Classic touring car racing. They have now finished their second season and are simply getting better all the time. They are road legal and do get sticky on track.
