But what is a 904 doing at Lotus??? It was a charity event that's been run for a couple of years now, not exclusively Lotus cars on show, it takes a basic trackday format with food. The Ferrari 268SP in one of those pics was 3 or 4 million quids worth of metal. But for most of the day it was all ty...

Hi Ian,

The noise remains the same as the revs rise, i.e. the frequency of the clatter increases in line with the revs. As the revs drop so does the clatter. The volume of the noise rises and drops inline too.

Nice feature of your car in Classic and Sports this month btw 8)

Okay Mike, went out and gave the crank pulley a bit of pushing and pulling and it didn't move back or forth at all, seems to be perfect in the horizontal plane, is this a good thing? What I did find in the tinware underneath the crank pulley was a small screw with a washer, probably only 3mm long wh...

Low revs clanking noise

Hey guys, Slightly concerned about a rather metallic clanking noise at idle. Car ('67 912, 89K on the clock) has been running very well lately until a couple of days ago when I started it up, I noticed that the engine was making a louder than normal clatter when cold. I took the car for a drive and ...

Racing Valve Cover Gasket Set, 356/912- SOLD!

Hi Guys, I ordered a spare set of these from Will at CSP a while ago and they are so good I don't need the spare one. Description below is from the CSP site; Designed by Vic Skirmants and manufactured by Fel-Pro, these heavy-duty valve cover gaskets feature a cork-rubber composite on a steel core. T...

Sorted! :-)

Couldn't go to bed thinking about the rev counter, so went to 912BBS did a search and found a thread suggesting problems at the coil. Having just replaced the coil 2 days ago, it seemed to be too much of a coincidence, so I went out and took a look at the coil, there it was - Tacho cable snapped jus...

It was dark when I arrived home, I took a cursory glance at the connections at the back of the gauge and couldn't see anything loose, but couldn't inspect properly. Will have another look in the morning. What is the general set up of the rev counter, where is it connected to? is it driven from the g...

Yep the A3, somewhere between Hindhead and Portsmouth. Don't hold out much hope of finding it over that range unfortunately.

Anyone know someone who could fabricate something if the original isn't available?

Cheers,

David.

Exhaust tail-pipe for a '67 912

Having recently 'lost' my tailpipe on the A3, I'm wondering if anyone has either a spare they wish to sell or if you know where I could get one. I'm only missing the last section, muffler is still there. Attached is a pic of what I am left with.... http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m289/redbarron91...

Job done.

Thank You Gentlemen, it was as easy as it sounded (10 min job) taking them off. I will have a little filling and touching-up to do but that's another beer and it's done!

Thanks for the advice.

David.
